White Night Ballarat is on Saturday 21 September, 2019 and will run from 7pm until 2am.

WHAT IS WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT?
Inspired by the international Nuit Blanche movement that began in Paris in 2002 and came to Australia as White Night Melbourne in 2013, this spectacular event finds the city reimagined through art, music, colour and light. Returning for a third time in 2019, White Night Ballarat welcomes all to witness a one-night-only festival of illumination, transformation and participation.
WHERE WILL WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT BE HELD, EXACTLY?
White Night Ballarat takes over the heart of Ballarat, focusing on Lydiard Street (from Ballarat Station in the north to Dana Street in the south) and Sturt Street (between Armstrong and Grenville Streets).
IS WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT FREE?
Almost everything at White Night Ballarat is free, but a few venues may be hosting ticketed events; these will be clearly indicated on their individual program listings, along with booking details.
ARE ALL ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM SUITABLE FOR A GENERAL AUDIENCE?
The majority of the White Night Ballarat program is suitable for all ages. Any venues or works with an age restriction due to program content will be identified on individual program listings.
IS THERE AN OFFICIAL PROGRAM GUIDE?
WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE THE ENTIRE WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT PROGRAM?
The White Night Ballarat program has dozens of free cultural events and activities, so you may not be able to experience every single program item. But there is no right or wrong way to experience the event. There is so much on offer, so feel free to arrive and see what happens! White Night Ballarat is yours to create for yourself – no two people will have the same experience.
WHO CREATED AND PRODUCES THE EVENT?
White Night Ballarat is a State Government of Victoria initiative that is owned and managed by Visit Victoria. It is produced by David Atkins Enterprises, with Artistic Director David Atkins OAM at the helm curating works created by local, national and international artists.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT?
Make sure to bring a charged phone and water bottle, wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget to rug up with warm clothing for the winter weather. Remember to download or print the event map, available on the website soon.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER DURING THE EVNET?
The safety of our patrons, staff and artists is our primary concern, and this will inform and guide the delivery of the three nights of the event. Check the weather forecast and come prepared. Follow White Night on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and check the website for updates.
Public transport is a great way to get to and from White Night Ballarat, but please keep in mind that demand may be high during peak times. PTV will be running buses, trains and coaches all night, and will be providing Park & Ride services. Check the website closer to the event for more information.
WILL PUBLIC TRANSPORT BE FREE?
Public transport will not be free during White Night, so you will still need to top up and use your myki. For more information, see ptv.vic.gov.au/myki.

We recommend you use public transport where possible, as car parking in the area bordering the event precinct will be extremely limited.
If you must drive, be aware that there will be several roads closed in and around the Ballarat CBD. A road closures map will be published on the website closer to the event.
WHO CAN I ASK FOR INFORMATION DURING THE EVENT AND HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO SPOT THEM?
There will be service hubs across the White Night Ballarat precinct and staff will be present and identifiable throughout the night to assist with any queries. A map including service hub locations will be published on the website closer to the event.
IS THERE SEATING IN ALL AREAS?
Seating is available in participating indoor venues, restaurants, cafes and bars.
IS THE EVENT ACCESSIBLE?
White Night Reimagined is an accessible event. Accessibility information relating to the venues and parklands that form the 2019 event will be published on the website closer to the event.
WHICH RESTAURANTS, CAFES AND BARS WILL BE OPEN DURING THE EVENT?
A list of participating restaurants, cafes, bars and food trucks will be available on the website closer to the event. We encourage you to make a reservation at participating restaurants so you don’t miss out. Please note that all public areas of White Night Ballarat are alcohol free.
WHAT KIND OF FACILITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE NIGHT?
Signs indicating key amenities – including general information, first aid, lost children, toilets and drinking water – will be present on the night. A map including key amenities locations will be published on the website closer to the event.

IS WHITE NIGHT BALLARAT LICENSED?
No. White Night Ballarat is an alcohol-free event. Alcohol is only permitted within licensed venues. Check back closer to the event date for information on venues with extended licences. It is an offence within the City of Ballarat to consume or carry opened alcohol in public areas.
