Imagine walking through Ballarat circa 1870.

The Eureka Rebellion had taken place almost 15 years ago, the township has fostered a population of 40,000 people, and you watch as construction of buildings like the Town Hall and the Post Office tower are given life for the very first time.

This installation showcases carefully selected aerial photographs of Ballarat over the course of the past 140 years alongside a 2017 comparison photograph. Witness its evolution from a small gold town to a blossoming city with a population of over 100,000.

Has Ballarat really changed that much? What buildings still stand today that have stood for more than 140 years?
