Post-Colonial Women in the Landscape

Jodie Dickinson

Women In The Landscape: a post-colonial critique on the trope of ‘women in the bush’, subverting Henry Lawson’s dominant ‘bushman’ narrative in his poetry. Women were either excluded or portrayed as ‘Little Girls’, ‘Faithful Wives’ and ‘Fallen Women’, the stereotypical images of women in post Victorian fiction.

This series of photographs aims to reclaim female agency and space for women to reimagine their feminine identity in the Australian landscape outside of the dominant patriarchy.
