Blak Night / White Night at Melbourne Museum

As the city comes alive with White Night Reimagined, start your family adventuring early in your favourite Melbourne Museum spaces.

This year sees Melbourne Museum respect our amazing First Nations with a focus on Australia’s First Peoples, as well highlighting the Te Vainui O Pasifika gallery redevelopment phase with a celebration of Pacific Island nations with music, dance, and visual arts.

Art-technology duo PluginHUMAN are creating an evocative performance environment that will feature LED light sculptures and projection art, working alongside Museum curators to select images of patterns and textures from the Museum’s First Peoples collection.

PluginHUMAN will animate and create effects with these using environmental data collected from Carlton Gardens trees. This will become a dynamic stage on which multiple First Peoples performers will present their works across the evening.

Witness the spectacular projections on the magnificent Royal Exhibition Building under the twinkling of Melbourne’s starry night. The collections and pop-up creative happenings of Melbourne Museum will entice you on journeys from near and far and leave those young, and not-so-young, filled with a sense of wonder and awe.

This is more than just a night of fun. This is an adventure.
